This year, Stiftung Digitale Chancen (SDC) has become the German national partner for Get Online Week 2012.
The network will involve about 1.000 telecentres in NGO’s, libraries and state or municipal organizations. Planned activities are seminars about e-services, conferences, hands-on trainings & demonstrations and workshops & introductions to the internet.
Together with the partner organisations in the national campaign Internet erfahren funded by the federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, they will use their wide spread contacts in the field of digital inclusion to facilitate internet courses based on the curriculum Inklusive Internet.
On March 27th and in partnership with E-Plus, SDC will organize a roundtable discussion with about 50 experts about life long learning in the information society. In the days before the roundtable, SDC will organize an online debate around the questions: Are computer skills a pre-condition for employability? What role can computer skills play in the concept of Life Long Learning?
SDC will also launch a new project with Tablet PCs for senior citizens, to evaluate if they can stimulate the use of internet among groups that are not yet familiar with the internet.
SDC will disseminate information on the Get Online Week in the German media and hopes to create a lot of media attention for all above activities. They expect to reach about 5.000 people during the campaign’s week.
