Short description of the event:

“Meetings with Experts” develops a series of interviews with professionals whose purpose is to deepen and analyse the impact of the digital era in employment, education or society itself. These events aim to attract people’s interest in current affairs, as well as to raise awareness about the risks and opportunities we can encounter in the educational or work environment.

Within this context, Gender equality is considered a  requirement in order to achieve a sustainable and cohesive society, as it is acknowledged in the Sustainable Development Goals Programme (SDG 5). Challenges related to the gender gap are regarded as a global and highly relevant matter to accomplish digital inclusion, which is the slogan of this year’s “All Digital Week” campaign.

Given all these facts, this online meeting will be about acquiring knowledge, overcoming and tackling the digital gender gap, based on the need to encourage women’s outreach in STEM and sci-tech careers. Apart from this focus, we aim to make society aware of women who have contributed in some way to the progress of sci-tech fields, promoting technological professions amongst girls at early and teen ages and adult women.

For this meeting, we have invited María Zabala, a journalist and a Communications Consultant, who has written the book “Ser padres en la Era digital”. María manages https://www.iwomanish.com/, an online platform where she shares information advocating for making good use of technologies, and which has been awarded as the Blog of the Year in the Madresfera Awards of its 2020 edition. Zabala helps families, educational organizations, companies and entities from the public sector, developing digital culture initiatives and giving workshops and conferences.

We will also talk about education on the scope of digital technologies aimed at families, children and teenagers.
