Short description of the event:

An information session being organised by the Malta Communications Authority and Foundation for Information Technology Accessibility (FITA) for CIOs within the Maltese government. A number of presentations will cover the legal and technical requirements brought about by the Web Accessibility Directive. We also plan to give an overview of the present legal frameworks governing ICT accessibility, by addressing the interaction between the UNCRPD, the Equal Opportunities Act and the Web Accessibility Directive. FITA shall cover common accessibility issues present across Maltese websites and APPs. We shall also cover assessment methodologies promoted by the Directive and mechanisms being put in place by MCA in order to facilitate the implementation of ICT accessibility by Maltese public entities. This initiative contributes to increased online accessibility because it constitutes an important step towards engagement of persons with disability and active citizenship.
