Get Online Week 2011 in Greece

During Get Online Week 2011, the Computer Technology Institute (CTI), in cooperation with the Municipality of West Achaia, organized two workshops in the telecentre of the Municipality of Kato Achaia:

The first workshop was organized on March 2, aiming to inform citizens about the potential of the internet such as:
– To obtain information and services from the public sector
– To search/find job
– To search/ find employees
– To promote products and services (eg tourism)
– To find information

The second workshop, on March 3, presented how the Internet and new emerging applications of social networking are useful for parents and especially children, and what they should be careful with when using it.

These two workshops were a great success and the audience participated with a lot of questions. In cooperation with the Municipality, CTI identified the need for the organization of additional relevant events to raise the awareness of the population, and about the opportunities offered by new technologies and the Internet. Moreover, CTI proposed the further exploitation of the telecentre of the Municipality to support an efficient use of these opportunities.
