Get Online Week 2012 in Albania

This year, Get Online Week has been organized in Albania by the Albanian Institute of Science (AIS). One of the most interactive activities was the organizing of several workshops with the students and teaching staff from the “Ismail Qemali” high school of Tirana. Under the title “The Use of Internet and Youth Employment” they discussed the content of the school program on topics such as new technologies and internet training. The workshops also included trainings on how to use the internet for studying and future employment.

For the first time this year, the Albanian Institute of Science (AIS) has become the national partner for organizing Get Online Week in Albania. More than 700 persons were involved.

One of the activities were workshops with the students and teaching staff from the “Ismail Qemali” high school of Tirana. Under the title “The Use of Internet and Youth Employment” they discussed the content of the school program on topics such as new technology and internet training. The workshops also included trainings in the use internet for studies and future employment.

Apart from these activities, AIS promoted personal stories and statistical data of the internet use in Albania. A few weeks before Get Online Week 2012 they published the increase of the number of internet contracts. A tv news report from ABC TV focused on this data and illustrated how the elderly in Albania now have more opportunities to communicate with their emigrated children and how people in rural areas can access online advice on health problems.
