Get Online Week 2012 in Lithuania

The Association Langas I Ateiti was again the Lithuanian national partner for Get Online Week 2012. This year, many Lithuanians showed their intention of being a member of the information society by registering at the Get Online Week 2012 counter. Lithuania is proud of reaching 14.463 people during the week.

Throughout the many activities organized in the week, an online lesson/webinar for school youngsters “The future is yours “ hit the record – 5000 students registered and participated online. “Congratulations! Online lesson broadened my horizons. In 5 years I would like to be one of the IT guys.” – said Domantas, a high school student.

The Association Langas I Ateiti was again the Lithuanian national partner for Get Online Week 2012. This year, many Lithuanians again showed their intention of being a member of the information society by registering at the Get Online Week 2012 counter. The small country is proud of 14.463 participants involved, being the 3rd in Europe after Latvia and Romania.

The GOW2012 initiative was opened on March 20 in the Government House of the Republic of Lithuania, during the Langas I Ateiti conference 
The knowledge society in Lithuania: What’s more to be learnt?”.
Get Online Week 2012 and its activities were presented to the 200 conference participants who represented government, private companies, libraries and educational institutions from all over the country.All conference guests received the Get Online Week 2012 souvenirs.

The Get Online Week in Lithuania received huge media coverage. Through appearance on national TV during the morning live broadcast, live presence at 2 Radio shows and through about 23 online articles & announcements and wall posts in about 10 Facebook profiles & groups, the size of the audience reached was about 650.000 people – 22 % of the country’s population.

Overview of activities:

  • March 27 – April 19
    State Tax Inspectorate consultants assisted people to declare taxes online in 106 Public Internet Access Points in all regions of the country. Over 3600 citizens assited.
