GOW 2014 to focus on skills and employment

Get online week 2014 is a digital empowerment campaign by telecentres to boost employment, eSkills training, certification, and digital jobs in communities across Europe. It will bring together telecentres – libraries, NGOs and educational centres – in 30 countries to support thousands of people to get ICT training, certification and / or access jobs.

The campaign will be organized during the month of March 2014. First three weeks will see a wide range of activities happening with a peak on the fourth one that will be officially known and promoted as the Get Online Week (24-30 March).

In 2014, the main focus will be on employment and digital jobs, consistent with the European policy and industry efforts to reach higher employment rates and to better match the eSkills supply and demand. The campaign will raise awareness and will tackle few key areas that could contribute strongly to the employment needs: eSkills training, ICT certification and the access to digital jobs.

Telecentre-Europe will work with its member organizations (telecentre networks) as GOW national partners that will further engage at least 5,000 community telecentres in campaign activities that will reach directly at least 50,000 people and raise awareness of at least 500,000 Europeans.

Social media will be used extensively to engage the audience, to register participants and to demonstrate the impact of GOW. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and national social media will be the main channels to communicate with community telecentres and the end users.
