¡Let’s celebrate “All Digital Weeks” in the Digital Competence Centres in Extremadura, Spain! (6 April 2022)

From the 14th of March until the 14th of April, Europe celebrates the All Digital Weeks campaign, an event empowering citizens through many activities in Extremadura that are carried out by the 75 Digital Competence Centres spread across the whole region. The campaign, organised by All Digital with the slogan “Enhance your digital skills”, will be addressed in five different themed weeks.

From this moment, the map showing the All Digital Weeks events spread across Europe make the region of Extremadura stand out with more than 100 workshops and awareness-raising activities, developed by the Digital Competence Programme for the Employability in Extremadura.

This year, with the slogan “Enhance your digital skills”, the All Digital Weeks is presented as a celebration of events during the months of March and April, throughout five thematic weeks, pursuing different goals. One of them focuses on strengthening digital skills among female groups. Others will work on fighting misinformation, promoting the knowledge of the DigComp Frame and its uses or fostering STEAM careers in young girls and women.

In Extremadura, the Digital Competence Centres – NCC, will develop three different types of activities. Within their existing Digital Social Lab, they will implement a methodology based on innovation and testing, with the mission of tackling the gender gap and promoting STEM and sci-tech careers amongst women.

“Objetivo Digital” is an awareness-raising activity that aims to raise awareness on the DigComp Framework, allowing participants to use Objetivo Digital, a self-assessment tool to find out their level of digital skills.

The third activity planned for this campaign is related to the destructive power of fake news, of which risks have also been exposed and politicised in the recent war affairs between Ukraine and Russia. With this purpose, the NCC will offer workshops to fight misinformation and empower citizens to help them distinguish between true facts and fake news.

Apart from these on-site events, the programme also includes an online event called Meetings with Experts“, with María Zabala, a journalist and a Communications Consultant, who has written the book “Ser padres en la Era Digital”. María manages https://www.iwomanish.com/, an online platform where she shares information advocating for making good use of technologies, and which has been awarded as the Blog of the Year in the Madresfera Awards in its 2020 edition. Zabala helps families, educational organizations, companies and entities from the public sector, developing digital culture initiatives and giving workshops and conferences. The meeting will also focus on the scope of digital technologies aimed at families, children and teenagers in the educational sector.
