Already a partner for GOW2011, Fast Track into Information Technology Ltd (FIT) is again the Irish national partner for Get Online Week 2012.
In 2012, FIT is responsible for training 10.000 people so that they can go on the internet and access basic services online. This is the largest scale programme in Ireland and is funded by the Irish Government. In this programme called BenefIT3, 100 local community training centres located in every region in Ireland are supported and funded by FIT and are using FIT’s First Steps to IT training course.
During Get Online Week 2012, the network will involve about 75 telecentres in NGO’s, libraries, state or municipal organizations and in schools. Planned activities are seminars about e-services, hands-on trainings & demonstrations and workshops & introductions to the internet.
FIT will use its well established national networks to promote the campaign. FIT has a very strong and vibrant network of local community training & development and centres who participate in its programmes on an ongoing basis. Local press and community newsletters will be used to showcase activities and excite local interest in getting involved in Get Online Week. As the national co-ordinator (along with ICT Ireland) for eSkills Week 2012, FIT will use the eSkills Week networks and media / promotional opportunities to support the Get Online Week campaign.
They expect to reach about 1.000 people during the campaign’s week.
