Already a partner for GOW2011, UK online centres is again the British national partner for Get Online Week 2012.
The network will involve 2.000 telecentres in NGO’s, libraries, state or municipal organizations and in private organizations and schools. Planned activities are seminars about e-services, conferences, hands-on trainings & demonstrations and workshops & introductions to the internet.
UK online centres will promote the European Get Online Week to its network of 3.800 community centres and wider partners and stakeholders. It is estimated that the activity throughout the week will help thousands of people to get started with computers and the internet. European Get online week will provide the perfect focus for national and local PR, extensive social media activity and toolkits and resources to help the European Get online week help thousands more people to get online.
UK online centres will use European research data regarding digital skills as a hook for PR activity which they will support with case studies. They will produce an online promotional campaign on www.go-on.co.uk and a toolkit to ensure that centres and volunteers have the resources they need to take part in the campaign. In partnership with Digital Unite, they expect to reach about 5.000 people during the campaign’s week.
